Before leaving on a jet plane, I made "maggie" cards for my friends. This first card is my first attempt to color with Copic sketch markers. It was made for my new online friend. I met Peggy through "Magnolia-licious" yahoo group. We've become great friends and share bits and pieces of our daily routines and craft ideas. She encouraged me to stretch my creativity into new mediums of cut & color, add enhancements, and she even gave good advice on using Copics.
She's one very busy lady, and I wanted this card to remind her to enjoy her summer by taking special moments to enjoy her beautiful flower beds. I also sent this to her with love and appreciation for all her encouraging words and friendship.

For enhancements, I used felt flowered ribbon, separating the flowers to make the garden and adding paper leaves from Martha Stewards leaf punch, and black pom-poms for their centers. A touch of pearl made by another ribbon from Michaels.
As I made this card, my intention was to find creative and cheaper enhancements for my grand daughters to use when I taught them to design cards this summer. These ribbons were found in Michaels $BIN and can be used generously by little fingers.
What a lovely card Debi. The DP really compliments the bright flowers. Your first adventure into coloring with Copics has turned out really well and I look forward to seeing more of your creations..

I am the very proud receiver of Debi's Maggie card. She has been more a blessing to me than she even knows. Becoming friends has been wonderful. I swear Debi is like a big dose if sunshine for me each day. She listens and is a great encourager. It's like we have been best friends since we were kids! She has the most patience and a heart of gold. Always putting everyone else first before herself.
ReplyDeleteMy hope is for us to one day soon get to sit together over a cup of coffee and maybe get to color a Maggie together! And it just may happen since my husband does travel now to her city.
I pray all goes well for her and her family and they will all return home safely. Big hugs to a wonderful friend.
Peggy
Love your card! The subtle colors in the oval dp really give you a great color pallette to work with. You've done a great job coloring and laying out your card.

Super card Debi. You did well with your copic coloring. I love the vibrance of it. what a lovely story about your new found friend Peggie. I have a friend too found through crafting. Her name is Patti Jo. Unfortunetly she lives in America and I live in Australia. We have emailed each other for over two years every day and I ring her once a fortnight on my computer phone. We knew each other way before we decided to join Magnolia-licious and now she is on the DT.

Pretty and delightful card. Your coloring looks wonderful, but Copics are just too addictive and I can't made a card without them now :o)
